My Rocky Oreo Cookies

Hi guys ! It's a long time to not to post in this blog. I had done my hectic neurology rotation and hopefully we can get an A scores. Amen :'D Now, I am in radiology rotation. In this rotation, we have to make a running presentation of radiology imaging for 15 days later... Well, it's like we (or I ? :p) make an open mic for stand up comedy because this imaging is so much hard and our consultants keep laughing because of (my) stupidity :"

Anyway, at the Silence Day, I made a cookie ! :D First, I got the recipe from twitter, looks simple and easy to make. But, I didn't understand about the measurement because they used cups (not gram) for each ingredients. Then I searched the other recipe and found the good one. I made "Oreo Cookies" you can get the recipe here : https://www.zoella.co.uk/2015/11/gooey-oreo-cookie-cookies.html :D

this is my version :

  • 200g Plain Flour
  • ½ Tsp Baking Powder
  • 150g refined sugar (the actual recipe uses 50g light brown sugar and 100g white sugar, but I can't find it in my nearest market)
  • 110g butter (I used Wijman butter, kinda expensive but worth it)
  • 75g chocolate chips (the actual recipe uses 50g but I thought it's not enough)
  • 14  of Oreo Cookies, (crushed it, it's free if you want to make it smooth crushed, but I tried to crushed it not too smooth because I still want the texture of Oreo)
  • 1tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1 Egg
and this is the step to make it :

1. Melt the butter then mix it to refined sugar. First, the texture is not fully mixed, there was some smooth roundness.

2. Add egg and vanilla extract carefully, make sure it's not overbeat. After adding egg, the texture is fully mixed and very thick.

4. Overheat the oven with small fire. I used stove oven (because electrical oven needs a high watt. Once I used the electrical oven, I had to turn off lights, television, and everything that uses electricity. LOL)

3. Add in the flour and mix it. Then add baking powder, stir until it's mixed.

4. Add chocolate chip and crushed Oreo. Stir again. At this step, the flavor of this dough was incredible ;)

5. By using spoon or hand (I used my hand) form a small balls then pop into the baking line tray. Don't forget to give a space for the cookies to spread out.

6. Wait until the cookies is lighty golden brown. Well, by using stove oven with small fire, I had to wait about 1 hour till the cookies was ready.

*if you want to make cookies with electrical oven, bake at 180oC for 9 - 11 minutes

What's the result ???
The shape is not as round as a "Goodtime Cookies" because I used roughly crushed Oreo. The texture... is stony ! hahaha.. It was sooo hard to chew :)) just like you eat fried meatball :)) But for the flavor.. still awesome !!
SURPRISINGLY, after one day I made this cookies.. the cookies isn't hard again :)) It's in a good texture ;D thought that maybe in normal cookie it will go soggy, but since my cookie is stony, it goes a good texture.

The testimony (from friend of mine) :
..Overall I will give it score 6.8 because the cookie is hard like a stone, but I have to admit that the flavor is wonderful, I give 9 for that -M
..The flavor is good enough, but the texture.. it's hard -Mom
...It's yummy ! It's not hard as you sad.. I'll give it 8 -R  (i gave her in the next day)

Recommendation :
EAT IT WITH A WARM MILK ! hahaha.. I think it will easier to eat this rocky oreo cookies :)) Next time, maybe I have to add more egg yolks (so I use 3 egg yolk and 1 white egg) because egg yolk can make cookie or cake softer ;D or.. maybe i should be patient to wait the cookies become soggy.

The best thing in making this cookies is its smell, it was wonderful and incredible. I remember one good quote about baking, that will make me keep baking :

"The smell of baking makes a house, a home" :)

hi ! we are the cookies :)
